This contract entails the replacement of the entire hot water services system
on a local authority housing estate in South London.
The client, the London Borough of Southwark, has employed Sir Frederick Snow & Partners Ltd
on a variety of projects, including similar work on the Consort Estate, which requires the replacement of
primary heating mains. The project value of this contract - also a current one - is £2.6m.
Sir Frederick Snow & Partners Ltd has also been employed by the Local Authority for the structural engineering
design of twelve new houses on Samuel Street in Southwark (see picture below). The project, which was
completed in 1999, was worth around £1.1m in total.
This project won a Commendation from the Civic Trust in 2000.

The company is currently carrying out work for the London Borough of Southwark on the
Aylesbury Estate. The requirement is to carry out a structural appraisal of 46 residential blocks, including a
feasibility study for the future addition of extensions and penthouses The value of this project is estimated at
around £30 million.
Another project commissioned by the London Borough of Southwark was situated on the North Peckham Estate.
The ten multi-storey tower blocks, dating from the 1960s, contain a total of about 1100 dwellings. Sir Frederick
Snow & Partners Ltd was asked to participate in the structural renovation of these tower blocks. Work carried
out included demolition of pedways and the design of new security stairs and lift towers to serve the residents.
Work was completed in 1998; the project value was around £20m.
