Name of Project: Dame Dorothy Primary School

Client: Burgess Dent Partnership

Location: Sunderland

Structural engineering services together with site inspections were provided for two single storey curved timber roof extensions to the existing school, together with internal alterations. The project was carried out in three consecutive phases to provide new teaching space, a nursery and community use areas. Foundations were in the form of mass trench fill due to the presence of deep poorly consolidated fill.

Existing estates offices extension. Structural services. Construction of existing single storey steel framed building altered to 2 storey. Timber upper floor. External sheeting altered. Foundations mass concrete pads.

Location: Edinburgh

Advanced research unit at Riccarton Campus. Civil/structural services provided. Construction of  steel portal framed units, hardstanding, roads.

Name of Project: Secondary Schools

Location: Irbid and Ajloon

Two secondary schools in Irbid and 2 secondary schools in Ajloon. Consultancy services provided included design and construction supervision services.

Name of Project: New Halls of Residence, Laws Building and Peoples Palace, Queen Mary

Location: London

Project Value: £2.5m

Mechanical & electrical engineering design for new 127 bed student halls of residence, split in to 2, 3 and 4 bedroom units; mechanical and electrical engineering design and cost estimation for the refurbishment of the Laws building on campus; mechanical and electrical refurbishment of the listed ‘Peoples Palace‘ building to provide additional lecture, examination and function facilities. Mechanical and electrical engineering design, contract documentation and construction supervision.

Name of Project: St Robert of Newminster School

Location: Washington, Tyne & Wear

Project Value: £5.1m.

New two storey development comprising classrooms, laboratories, library, lecture theatre, art and technology rooms and assembly hall. In addition there will be major alterations to an existing single storey house block to provide additional teaching area and re-organisation for 1,100 pupils. Consultancy services included site investigation, structural report on existing building, structural engineering design and inspection of construction.

Name of Project: St Aidans R C School

Location: Sunderland

Value: £2.5m

Structural design of a three storey extension to this exisitng 1200 pupil secondary school. The structural frame is a combination of steel columns and beams and load bearing blockwork walls constructed on pad and strip foundations, with wide slab PC units making up the floors. A curved metal deck roof gives a 19m clear span over the third floor library. Other accommodation includes 11 science labs, prep areas, chemical storage, and traching areas. This project also invloves the refurbishment and conversion of an exisitng library and labs into new teaching space and the re planning of the dining area and its associate spaces. Services inlude site investigations, structural design together with site inspection.

Location: Houghton le Spring

This replacement primary school for 210 pupils consisted of 7 classroms, hall/dining room, library, admin/staff room and changing facilities. The classrooms having load bearing blockwork walls with tiled monopitched timber roofs were positioned on either side of the wide barrel vaulted atrium supported on a series of centrally placed steel trees. At one end of the building is sited the hall/dining room which has a curved steel roof on deep glulam timber beams supported at one end by a blockwork wall and at the other by steel trees, built within the hlaf glazed elevation, giving 2.5m eaves overhang. The hall and classrooms are seperated by the admin area and library. The library acts as the focal point of the school with its two storey circular shaped topped by a 6m high glazed cone (right). Services included site investigation, structural design and site inspection.

Location: London

Project Value: £3.5m.

Condition surveys for mechanical and electrical facilities of the four site buildings of Westminster College. Followed by design and construction supervision for comprehensive upgrading and rehabilitation of all building services at Vincent Square and Battersea Park Road buildings.
