The Building Research Establishment's new specialist Fire Research Station was intended to test the flammability of various materials.

Sir Frederick Snow & Partners Ltd were asked to provide structural and mechanical and electrical engineering services and quantity surveying services for this unique project.

A subsequent project for the Building Research Establishment was the construction of a Fill Testing Pit. This in essence is a reinforced concrete cavity with sufficient provision for instrumentation to measure and test collapse consolidation of soil. Snows' services included project management, quantity surveying, construction supervision and civil and strucutral design.
