Selected Projects: Waste Management

Landscape Planning - Sir Frederick Snow & Partners Ltd has been involved with landscape planning projects at a selection of landfill sites in recent years:

Riggend - Landscape and pond design for restoration works.
Levenseat - PPC application, hydrological investigations and landfill directive assistance.
Darngavil Road - Flood prevention by controlled discharge and clay extraction: planning proposal.
Avondale - Reed bed, retention lagoon and access road.

Leachate Plant Works (below) - Involvement with three projects, completed 2000, 1999 and 1998 respectively:

Deerplay Landfill - Contruction management of leachate treatment works.
Highmoor Quarry Landfill - Design and construction supervision for leachate holding tanks.
Buckden Leachate Plant - Technical Assistance, design and supervision of consrtuction of remedial works to failed leachate treatment works.

Waste Audit - The company conducted four one-week waste audits to determine a waste profile with the aim of targeting recycling efforts. This was on behalf of the North West Environmental Trust Ltd.

Environmental Improvements, Lebanon - Rehabilitation and completion of the Bourji Hammoud solid waste compsting plant. Capacity 2 x 300 ton/day. Part of the waste water/environment scheme with a total value of $25m.
The project included: Development and Reconstruction of Evironmental Improvements - Consultancy services for solid waste, sewer cleaning and water works programme valued at $10m.
Design and consultancy regarding hotel complex built on methane generating filled land.

Reclamation of Brick Workings, Hookwood - Investigations and studies for reclamation of old brick workings by filling with solid domestic waste.

Re-use of Quarry, Grays, Essex - Investigations and studies for filing of an old chalk quarry with waste material and for subsequent industrial development.

Land reclamation, Gillingham, Kent - Investigations and studies related to reclamation of the Nor Marsh in River Medway Estuary using various materials.
