Improvements include a new international terminal pier and domestic terminal; a new 9Mw power generation plant for the island upon which the airport is situated, with a new 11kV ring main power distribution scheme.

Additionally, air traffic management systems have been upgraded, incorporating a new 33m high air traffic control tower, Extended Communications and Surveillance facilities such as VHF and MSSR housed in a new Air Traffic Services building.
